Christine Mannone Carolan Author/Illustrator
Christine graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Illustration. She lives in Setauket, New York with her husband Lenny and their yellow lab Dakota. Christine told us, “I absolutely love dogs and volunteer at the Guide Dogs for the Blind in Smithtown, NY, where I play with the dogs to give them a break from their rigorous work schedule.” Flowers for Pudding Street is the first book she has authored and illustrated. She also illustrated Too Much Of A Good Thing (Lerner Publishing Group)

Elena Caravela Illustrator
Elena graduated from The School of Visual Arts in NYC. She is a renowned portrait artist who also teaches fine art workshops to children and adults. She also illustrated A Night of Tamales and Roses, which was listed in The Bank Street College of Education - Best Children's Books of 2008. Elena lives in Summit, New Jersey with her husband, two boys and a clutter of cats.

Della Ross Ferreri Author
Star of the Show is Della’s fourth children’s book. Her other titles include the picture book, How Will I Ever Sleep In This Bed? (Sterling Publishing, 2005) and beginning readers: Hey! You're Eating My Homework (Bebop Books, 2005) and Picnic On The Sidewalk (Seedling Publications, 2003). Della lives in Hyde Park, New York with her husband, three kids, a rabbit and tropical fish.

Doreen Tango Hampton Author
Doreen was born and raised in New Jersey. Through her career as antique dealer she discovered the world of antique children's books and became an avid collector. Inspired by the birth of her niece Grace in 2000, she began writing her own original children's stories. She and her husband, now reside in Litchfield County, CT.

Christopher is a stay-at-home dad who quit his job in 2005 as an editor at The Wall Street Journal web site to care for his son. Chris has been a journalist for 19 years and his essays on parenting have been published in a variety of publications. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and son, Nicholas.

Rolf Harder Illustrator
Rolf was born in Hamburg, Germany. He studied at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts and spent his early years working as a designer in both German and Canadian agencies. Rolf has designed over 70 postage stamps for Canada Post Corporation and won numerous national and international design awards. His work has been published in magazines and presented in exhibitions throughout Canada and the U.S., Australia, South America, Europe, Russia, Japan and Korea. Rolf's work is a part of the permanent collection: the National Archives of Canada Ottawa, Canada and The Museum of Modern Art, in New York.

Penny Harter Author
Penny graduated from Douglass College in New Jersey. She taught high school English for many years. Currently she is a teaching artist for New Jersey State Council on the Arts’ new project “Poetry Out Loud.” In the last decade, Penny has authored seven poetry books: Shadow Play: Night Haiku, Stages and Views, Grandmother's Milk, Turtle Blessing, Lizard Light: Poems From the Earth, Buried in the Sky, and Along River Road.

John Italia Author
John grew up watching the birds soar above the harbors of New York City. There he spent countless hours admiring these wondrous creatures whose voices became the inspiration for The Birds of the Harbor. A poet at heart, he spent seven years under the tutelage of W.H. Auden. John is the father of five grown children and is a psychologist in northern California.

Joanna H. Kraus Author
Playwright, author, and arts educator, Joanna is Professor Emeritus of Theater and former Graduate Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Arts for Children Program at the The College at Brockport State University of New York. Her plays have garnered a number of awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, New York State Theatre Education Association and Charlotte B. Chorpenning Cup for Achievement in Playwriting. Her first children's book, Tall Boy's Journey was published in 1993 by Carolrhoda Books. Joanna and her husband Ted live in Walnut Creek, California.

Alexandra Miller Illustrator
Alexandra was born in St. Peterburg, Russia. At the age of seventeen she majored in illustration at the prestigious St. Peterburg Academy of Art. After immigrating to the United States she worked as an artist apprentice in Shimon Okshteyn fine Art studio in New York City. Her freelance pen and ink illustration appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines. Later she worked as a Creative Director for Museum Masters International. She lives in Summit, New Jersey with her husband, and their twin daughters, Veronica and Christina.

Gina Pfleegor Illustrator
Gena graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia and went on to recieve her masters in art education from Elmira College. She now teaches art at Hammondsport Central High School in the Finger Lakes region of New York. I Like Gum is her first children’s book.

Pete Watson Author
Pete was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Dahomey, Benin when he first experienced the magic of African culture. The journals he kept while living in a small farming village were the inspiration for The Heart of the Lion and for his first children's book, The Market Lady and the Mango Tree. Mr. Watson is the director of Howell Living History Farm in Titusville, New Jersey, where he shares his love of farming, history and storytelling with visitors from around the world.

Tony Weinstock Illustrator
Tony was born in California, but spent most of his life on the east coast. Recently, he returned to California to seek out his fortune and warmer weather. Growing up on a healthy diet of comics and cartoons, he loved to draw superheroes and monsters. Later, he attended the Rhode Island School of Design where he learned to draw and paint “all of the other stuff.” Nowadays, he creates artwork for a variety of fields including comics, movies, and video games. He is currently working on his second children’s book The Ballad of Booster Boggs by author Ellen Jackson.
